Getting Older

My little girl was 6 at the end of June .

SIX I tell you!

Where is that time going?

I cannot believe that she is my baby and she is going into year 2 in September.

My eldest son is moving into year 8 at Grammar school and my middle son will be in his final year at Primary School.

Damm, I feel old.

Anyway here is the fantastic cake that I my friend made. She runs a business called Baking Maid.

She is simply beyond belief in what she can do - check out her designs on her page!

Happy Birthday Dad.

80 Today!

We had all the family together to celebrate with Dad yesterday at his new home. It was a very poignant time . All 3 of dads daughters together and their children. He seemed content and happy.
I had a feeling we needed to cherish it.

Six Month Blog Birthday

Another New Day

I can't believe that it was 6 months ago I started this little old blog on a bit of a whim, not sure what to blog about, but keen to see where it led. My third child had just started full time school and it seemed like change was afoot. This appeared a good place to ramble on and talk about the things that I was interested in as I made plans for the future.

Well, I must say I can't quite believe how many sweet, kind, unbelievably friendly and welcoming people I have encountered since May. I have made some really good friends and connected with people all over the world! I wish I'd done this years ago!

I do also feel I have more of an idea where things are heading for us as a family now, the next stage of life is becoming clearer and this Blog features in that too. As time has gone by I have found a pattern to what I post about and a theme that runs through these posts. This all naturally reflects me as a person, what I love and am passionate about so it is easy to blog and I am loving it.

So thank you to each one of you who has come and visited me and bothered to stay a while. Thank you for every comment - I read every one and appreciate them all. Thank you for all the tweets and words of encouragement too - it has been beyond amazing I can tell you!

So..... I have some exciting plans for the Little 'Ole Blog coming up, including a design tweak and lots of new post ideas so please keep visiting!

Happy 6th month Birthday "Another New Day"!

Look after the pennies.....

I am always reminded of my Grandmother at this time of year as it was her birthday. I was very close to her and loved her dearly. My Grandmother , Grandy as she was known, used a well known saying that has stuck with me a long time " Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves." She lived a long and happy life, passing away at 102 a few years ago in her sleep. We had a plaque made in her memory and put on a bench at the local Botanical Gardens where she liked to sit and think.

She lived life very frugally, but was always very impeccably turned out . Always a smart twin suit with a matching hat and Mappin and Webb snap handbag. Her clothes were good quality and she made them last years and looked after them well. I love that until the last week of her life, when we read a entry in her diary that said " not right, don't feel well, not sure why" she dressed carefully and put her make up on everyday. A bit of blush on her cheeks and a pink lipstick on her lips, and she always smelt of talcum powder......

Happy Birthday Grandy, and if I have inherited just a tiny amount of your style and grace then I will be content !  X
