Wednesday Beauty Buys
Real Techniques Brushes
Great make up is as much about the tools you use as about the products that you apply. I've learnt, to get a better finish with certain products a great brush really does do a better job. However, we all know that brushes can range in price from a couple pounds to a huge amount and vary in quality enormously so it is a bit of a minefield knowing what to buy. I got myself this Real Techniques core collection set earlier this year as some of my brushes were looking a little weary. They are really good quality, soft, easy to handle, accurate brushes. I have been very impressed with them for the price.
However, If you can splurge, then do, on a couple of really good brushes. They do make a difference in my opinion and last longer, giving you more for your money in the long term.
If you have a bit of money to spend on brushes and don't know where to start, I would start with a really good blush brush, followed by a foundation brush and a powder brush.
Shadow brushes are usually not so expensive and you can build these up gradually.
If you wish to start with a good core collection , then these Real Techniques brushes are fantastic. The quality and feel is a lot better than many more expensive brands. Have a look on the Real Techinques website for details about their brushes and their construction. You can purchase them at Boots here. I love that the brushes are all labelled on the handle as well so you are clear to their purpose. I am not a trained beautician, but am a beauty product addict and will confess to years of examining and using various products and brushes! Everyone will form an opinion about what suits them the best, but this is the conclusion I have come to:
Buy what you can afford, what makes you feel great and what works for you, not what is the latest trend or expensive brand 'experts' or shop assistant try to push you to buy. It is your money and your decision.

This is an area I really need to "BRUSH" up on.....! No seriously I could do with a lot of help in that direction, I tend only to use an eyeliner, and blusher brush ! xx
ReplyDeleteA few years ago I only had a couple - now I have loads and still hanker after more!
DeleteI've heard good things about these Real Techniques brushes Claire - I do have a few Bare Minerals brushes all included with kits which are great but will probably invest in a proper set at some stage! Hope you're having a good Easter break! xx
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely and not too pricey - so soft and don't swallow up too much product either!
DeleteI must admit I have wanted some of these brushes for ages but just haven't got round to buying any!
ReplyDeleteI'm so tempted to get these, they've been on my wishlist for a while now! x
