Rose hydrating mist by Aromatheray

I have been on the hunt for a rose water toner forever. Everything I looked at had such a high alcohol content in that I steered well clear.

Then I came across this....

Rose Hydrating Mist by Aromatherapy Associates

It was quite tricky to find the ingredients when I was ordering, but when I finally did it isn't too bad at all . The main ingredient is rose water . It can be used as a spray or you can apply to a cotton pad then swipe across the face. It can also be use to revive skin over make up . It is filling the gap I had in my routine for a toner when I don't want to use my liquid gold or exfoliating toners.

Gentle and hydrating - job done.

Seche Restore

Wednesday Beauty Buys

Squeeze a little more life out of your favourite polish!

I had a few polishes that were no longer available and although they had product left in the bottle their consistency was becomming a little gloopy . I know the old wives tale of adding some remover to thin it, but I find this makes it weak and the polish chips quickly.

We have all heard about the Bloggers favourite Top Coat Seche Vite, but have you tried their version of restoring your favourite polishes, Seche Restore? You just add a few drops , shake and voila!

It seems to have worked so far for me.....

Have you tried any more of the Seche products?

I did have the base coat, but dropped it on the floor and it is no more. I have reverted back to a base coat from Essie instead that is doing a cracking job.

Phyto Intense Volume Mousse

 Wednesday Beauty Buys

I hate the way that some mousses leave a sticky residue in your hair or even just a 'feel' of product. I don't find that I need a lot of product in my hair to create volume. Although my hair is fine , I have a lot of it, so it is quite happy to turn into a bushy mess with a bit of the wrong product thrown in!

However, I do find that without product my hair lies very flat at the roots and I don't like that. So, I have been hunting for a simple, unfussy mousse that will add a bit of lift without residue or stickiness.

Easy? No!

I have tried a fair few in my quest.

However, this product,Phyto intense volume mousse is fantastic.

You only need a small amount as it does create incredible volume -too much for me the frst time I used it - I looked like I had been caught in a wind tunnel!

I use a small amount and apply it as close to the roots as I can get it. I leave the mid and ends clear. I then comb through to make sure it is evenly spread. Most of the product is at the top of my hair where I want the "lift".

What it says on the tin:

It creates structure, increases volume and controls the style. Acacia collagen hydrates the hair while protecting from environmental stresses. Contains a natural UV filter.

I don't find it leaves any feel of product in my hair, but it does add an amazing amount of volume. My hair is quite dry at the moment, but this mousse seems to add more shine to it rather than dry it out further. It doesn't have a strong aroma at all, in fact I would say it doesn't really smell of anything which is a huge bonus for me as I often dislike the artificial smell of hair products!

I wasn't sent this product to review . This is just something I have purchased I think is really worth the money. If you are struggling to find a product to give volume without residue I would recommend giving this a go.

Shopping My Wardrobe

And a Profile Picture!

I have been trying to get a decent head shot for my profile picture, but can't find one I am happy with. This is why.....

Can you tell it was windy - again?

Which one do you think goes with the body.....

Anyway I digress.

This is my weekly post of

Shopping My Wardrobe

I pick items from my existing wardrobe that I feel were a good deal and good quality.

Sometimes I will add a new item in like these Brady Boyfriend Jeans from Asos. I have been looking for a slimmer cut of boyfriend jeans for a while and then saw a post on The Frugality saying how lovely they were and they are! Soft and so comfortable. I have a size 8 which is just right.

This week I have:

  • Sainsbury's Mens Grey Marl Fairtrade T Shirt Small ( they didn't have an XS, but I wanted grey!)- I love nicking things from the men's departments. This is loose and comfortable and just what I wanted . £4
  • Sanisbury's Scarf in denim and yellow - I got this a few weeks ago and I love it . It has a linen feel and is perfect for the Spring. Only £8.
  • A new purchase. Asos Brady Boyfirend jeans. In love with the comfort of these. Thanks to The Frugality for the heads up. £38. Worth every penny.
  • Gap jacket - sale purchase from last year. I think it was around the £25 mark. Wear this a lot. ( see headless shot above - only decent snap of the jacket in this wind!)
  • Ash wedges - greatly reduced, but still £80. Worth it?  Oh yes! See the story here.

I saw some great men's T shirts in Next at the weekend as I was panic buying a pair of smart (ish) trousers for my husband. He is losing weight at the moment and wanted a pair of trousers to wear to a wedding this weekend, but didn't want to spend the earth on something that might not fit him in a months time. They have some great chinos for only £20 - result. They also do their T shirts in an XS and have some lovely designs. Worth a look in the men's departments if you are looking for some basics for casual wear and can't find anything in the women's or want something different. Knitwear is another great one - light knits in an XS in some lovely colours.

Knitwear Collection
Crew neck knits - great casual wear.
Essential Tops
T shirts ( In XS) £6 , 2 for £10 or 3 for £15 !!

Knitwear Collection
Monochrome knits - love these!

You can shop at Next here

Have you ever shopped the men's department's for items for your wardrobe?

Linking up with Visible Monday.

Worth My Pennies?

Barry M Gelly Polish, Palmers Natural Bronze Lotion and Maybelline Rocket  Volume Mascara

April

One of the things I take a lot of notice of is the opinion of everyday people. It was and still is one of the things I love most about reading other blogs. I know I will get an honest opinion about a product or an item of clothing and whether it is worth trying or not.

The trouble is I get tempted a little too much.

Oh well!

Each month I am going to do a post called,

 "Worth My Pennies ?"

where I will review a few products that I have seen raved about and have decided to try for myself when they are on a good offer.

This month I have :

  • Barry M Gelly HI Shine Nail Paint ( 3 for 2 promotion at Boots)
  • Palmers cocoa Butter Natural Bronze Body Lotion ( half price at Sainsburys)
  • Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara ( 3 for 2 promotion at Boots)

1.The Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint

This was part of the 3 for 2 offer at Boots so in my quest to convince myself there are good quality "cheaper" polishes out there I thought I would give these a go.

The red polish was my first try .

Two Coats
It goes on very thick indeed. However, for me one coat doesn't look quite "finished" enough and two coats is just too much. I found it very difficult to use as the brush picks up so much polish. My nails were somewhat messy. However the shine is incredible and it lasted a couple of days.

The purple was my second try.

One Coat

This goes on like kids poster paint. I didn't like the finish at all. It looked all wrong. I tried using this with just one coat, but there was not the shine I expected and the finish was uneven. I won't be wearing this again. Actually I took this off before leaving the house.

I also did get a chance to try the coral - same as above. Think poster paint finish, but thicker.

A lot of people really get on with these polishes. I guess I like a more "polished" finish ( pardon the pun) They are very stand out colours which is what they are meant to be - just not for me.

Verdict - Fail

2.Palmers Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze Body Lotion.

I am always a little nervous about tanning lotions. I am very pale so I will not get my legs out without a little colour on them. I have relied on St. Tropez gradual tanner in the past, but this is a little pricey and it takes a while to build a bit of colour, albeit a natural look. So I decided , on a half price offer at Sainsburys I would give this a go.

My first try was a little patchy, but I was a little rushed and didn't let the lotion soak in fully before I put trousers on. I reapplied this the following day and I am actually really pleased with the colour. It is not patchy or streaky and is easy to apply. In this case I can see why people are raving about it. I may even go back and pick up a few more bottles to get me through the summer!

I will try and get my legs out in an outfit post and show you the results !

Verdict - Pass.

3. Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara

I will admit to having tried all three of Maybeilines latest mascaras. Out of the three of them I would say that this one is the best. It does build volume in the lashes and they do last. The brush is a good size and the bristles make it easy to apply. However, I do find it clumps a little too easily and can feel uncomfortably tight on the lashes as the day progresses. I know - I am particular. Beauty and pain and all that, but I'm sort of past that. I need my eyes to feel comfortable and this didn't quite do it for me. A good, bit not great mascara. I will use this up - eventually.

Verdict - Fail

So you can see I am a hard master to please with only, 1 out of 3 . Should have kept my money in my pocket ?

A bargain is only a bargain if it is good quality.

I'd rather spend a little more on a product I get every scrap out of than a cheaper one I am not happy with.

Lesson learnt ?

Maybe.
