December Birchbox

And a little catch up.

After This Post about my big news I planned to get myself organised and prepare for the start of my new job in January.

However for reasons that I won't go into I got an early morning phone call on Thursday asking if I would mind starting "today"?

Hence the lack of blog posts .I have been a little preoccupied.

My need to be organised has well and truly be challenged in so many ways this year, but I am getting there slowly.

So onto all things beauty.

December Birchbox

I do like it that Birchbox includes brands that I haven't tried before . I have found that items are now creeping their way into my daily routine. When the samples are gone I am missing them so re order the full size if they are amazing. The Ritesens creme cleanser was just lovely and I have now reordered it. It suits my skin at this time of year and lasts for ages. I was intrigued to see another similar milk cleanser in the box this month so will be trying that out with a view to adding that in. I find my skin gets accustomed to cleansers so I like to have a few on rotation.

  • Number 4 Non areosol hairspray - a great handbag size
  • Nail Rock Nail velvet - I tried this out straight away - I didn't do a great job as it was late, but it gives a lovely velvet effect. See the ring finger!!

  • Twistband - I am hooked on these - they don't bend or damage your hair.
  • Naobay Milk cleanser - lovely for dry skin
  • Alima Pure shimmer eye shadow - this looks pretty.
  • Aromatherapy Associated Bath and shower Gel - Smells divine

I am always happy with my little samples. It is a treat each month. I suspect it is not for everyone, but now I am working full time and don't seem to have a moment to spare  I shall enjoy my box even more.

Any tips from you working mums on time management gratefully received at this point in time!!

Wednesday beauty Buys

TK Maxx Beauty Bargains

TK Maxx - Sometimes it is a winner, sometimes not, but I must admit to loving a bit of a rummage through the shelves of the beauty section .It may be full of a load of battered products that aren't worth a second glance, but I always look behind and under what is there as you never know what you may find.

Three full size Nails inc polishes for £12. Yes please.

I picked these up a little while ago, but haven't used them yet.

A lovely blue that I will use on my toes when I am using a clear polish on my finger nails. A gorgeous coral, need I say more, and a summery, dusky pink. perfect.

I have given my nails a whole month off being painted and they are in a much better condition for it . I was finding that they were flaking and breaking easily. I am being better at wearing gloves when I am cleaning to protect my hands as well.

Nails inc are a lovely quality polish and I do find it lasts well. However, yes I'm fussy , I know, but it is a little sheer for my liking and I find that to get the lovely finish these polishes give I have to put three coats on. Maybe that's why they last so long? Three thin coats is better than two thick ones? Hmmmm.

I always use an undercoat and a top coat and at the moment am using the bloggers favourite Seche Vite  and Seche Base . I got mine a few months ago from Beauty Bay on a 3 for 2 offer ( no longer on this 3 for 2 offer) so I also got the Seche Restore to try and revive some of my favourite polishes that are no longer available. It works fairly well, but does reduce the quality of the original polish. Beauty Bay have a sale offer on their Seche Vite and Seche Base at the moment.

So, finally after a month of not painting my nails it had to be coral.

Nails Inc Coral

Of course I have to matchy match match.

Silver Birkenstocks - TK Maxx

I am still loving the coral tones this "summer".

Any good recommendations for new nail colours that you are loving at the moment? I'm always up for a new bottle of polish!

Nail Varnish

I had a small splurge at Superdrug over the weekend as they have a 3 for 2 offer on  Maybeline's nail varnish ranges. I selected from the Forever Strong range and the Express Finish range. I am pretty hard on my nails and I find this range is as good as any varnish I have tried.

I selected three colours, although I am not sure the green will get a full outing with me having tried it on once! A little daring for me, but a lovely vibrant colour none the less!

Sable Rose, Soft Doux, Turquoise Green

This is how they look on:

Sable Rose
Soft Doux
Turquoise Green

I also always use Essie 3 in 1 base and top coat and as I cannot wait around for them to dry as there is always a child demanding something of me ( and I am not a very patient , sit around type of person!!) I love OPI's Rapi Dry Top Coat. It really does mean you can leave the house in minutes!! It is pricey at £13.25, but lasts for ages and for me worth every penny. Again available at Boots!

What is your favourite nail colour this season?
