Beauty Routines Part Six

Wish List

This is the last part to my Beauty Routines Posts .

We all have things that we would love to go out and buy if we had unlimited funds. Sometimes I wonder if I was rich, I mean really rich, because actually you and I are rich compared to so many in this unfair world, but if I had the sort of money where  it didn't matter how much I spent, then would I just go and buy all the items on my wish list?

Probably!

I do have a growing list of clothes I would like to be hanging in my closet, a few accessories that would be rather nice, a couple of holidays I would love to take, but for now we are being wise as we have spent rather a lot lately on something loosely called a building project.

I do have a list of beauty products that I would like to try and add to my daily routine, either to replace an existing product or to add to the routine when needed. None of these are excessively expensive, but all have had great reviews :

Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel  - This sounds a delightful cleanser and the reviews on it have all been good. It seems to be suited to most skin types too. It retails at £19.50

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum - This serum has had some great reviews and I have almost picked it up so many times! It retails for £17.00.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum ( new) - I had some samples of the old product and it was amazing. My skin always looked great in the morning after using it. I was just uncertain about the silcones that were used. However, apparently these have been cut down in the new product. I have bagged a 7ml sample and again am loving it. It can cause me to break out if I use it every night , but alternate nights is great. The introductory price is £44

Pixi Glow Tonic - I already have the Ren clarifying toner and now the Clarins exfoliating toner ( review to come), but I am also hankering after this one. These toners have been a real deal changer for my skin. You can buy the product by phoning the store on 02072877211. It is £16

Line Release Eye Cream by Kate SomerVille - actually anything from her line now she is shipping to the UK!

Do you have any products on a wish list?

September Birchbox

We have so much going on around the house at the moment this months box nearly got overlooked. The hall floor is coming up and the new flagstone flooring is being laid throughout the downstairs of the house . I was glad to be working for a couple of days this week!

Septembers box for me was a lovely little treat. I know I say it again and again, but I really enjoy getting these boxes. I also understand that it isn't for everyone. I love the surprise of not knowing what is in my box and unwrapping it each month. I have not once been disappointed.

Reverence de Bastien Nail Polish £16.00( Full size)

Bioderma Micellar Water £9.99 (sample)

Modelco Party Proof Lipstick £15.50 for set of 3 ( one full size in box)

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Body Gel £31.00  ( Good size sample!)

Molton Brown Ylang Ylang Body Lotion £18.00 ( sample)

Green and Blacks White Chocolate ( £2.99) ( sample)

I tried the nail polish out and it went on beautifully . It did chip after a couple of days, but this is usual for me and my lifestyle! The Bioderma is great for removing make up, but waterproof mascara needs somethings a little stronger. The lipstick is a lovely colour, but does not last as suggested. I shall enjoy it anyway. The gel is absolutely gorgeous - feels like your skin drinks it in. The Molton Brown scent was not for me somehow - not quite as strong as I expected. The chocolate didn't last past the photographs! Yum.

So at the moment I shall be continuing my Birchbox subscription . I enjoy my little treat each month.

A New Phone

We live in an area of fairly poor mobile phone reception . Whilst this has it's benefits of peace and quiet and not having the phone ringing at all times, it has recently become more of a problem. My husband runs his business from home and I need to be contacted at short notice for my work, so better reception than we currently had was a bit of a necessity.

I decided to upgrade my phone through Vodaphone and their Sure Signal Box which gives almost perfect signal all around our house. At the same time I upgraded my existing phone from a Samsung Galaxy to an iphone 5. Of course a change of phone necessitates a change of accessories and I was sent this one courtesy of Mobile Fun to try out.

It is from a great little range illustrated by Nikki Pinder. All the designs are detailed and unusual. They are really my cup of tea and I'd much prefer to have something like this gracing my phone than the same cover as everyone else has! They are really unique. The case is slim and lightweight, yet sturdy enough to protect the phone. Check out the other options below. Mobile Fun has a variety of options for cases you can look at here.

A Woman's Prerogative

To change her mind.

I have found that I have changed my mind on a couple of products that on first use I simply wasn't impressed with. Sometimes , however hard you try to like something at first it simply does't fit or work for you, but over time you begin to reach for it as you find it actually does what it says " on the tin"

I have a couple of products that when I first tried them out I really didn't think I would get on with them, but have ended up repurchasing and using again ....

Fickle ...moi?

1)The first is the Nip and Fab CC eye fix.

I did a review on the CC cream and eye fix here and was not overly impressed , although did not completely write the eye fix off. However, I now have used it all up and repurchased it. I find it great for wearing under the eye, on top of my Bobbi Brown corrector. It gives a lightness to the eye area and also is great for a bit of contouring down the centre of the face. It has a lovely reflective quality to it without a unnatural sheen. I have the light shade.

2) The second product is a more recent purchase, but I have worn it constantly since buying it - the Bourjois Colour Boost. At first I felt it was too runny , but it actually is a lovely product and very easy to apply. The colour I have is Red Sunrise and is absolutely gorgeous. Love it. My original review is here. It is a Watermelon colour, not quite pillar box red , not pink. So much cheaper than the Clinque Chubby Sticks and a nice change from the Revlon Lip Stains.

I am wearing both products in this sheepish selfie.

Channeling the long fringed look as modelled so beautifully by Susie So So

I am trying to take the approach with my toiletries that I have with my wardrobe at the moment and am just using up what I already have. I have decided that my weakness is definitely in this area. At those times when I am trying to be careful with what I spend, I can convince myself that somehow it doesn't seem so bad to pop an extra lippie for £4.99 in the supermarket trolley, but of course it all adds up and I do have rather a great collection building up. I am going to see how long I can last without buying anything new. That is of course, after I have managed to obtain the "Notting Hill Nude Moisture Renew Lipstick" by Rimmel that seems to be eluding me in our sleepy part of the world!

Spotted Sheep Card Review

Online Card Company

I was recently sent some cards from a new online card company called Spotted Sheep. As a family of five we constantly need cards for the neverending rounds of birthdays, parties, exams, anniversaries - I could go on. I like to keep a stock of cards in so I am not caught out without a card when it is needed.

This company has a wide range of cards by individual artists that you won't find on the high street. They are reasonally priced at £2.00 each, but you have an option to buy 10 for £10. Postage is free when you purchase 3 or more cards.

The cards arrived neatly packed in a spotted bag with a complimentary chocolate! Everything about the way the cards were packed , the presentation, the style and feel of the product screams quality. This is obviously a good quality product for a reasonable price.

The inside of the card is blank so you can add your own message, but if you wish to add  a greeting then there is the option to buy a pre written greeting on a Keepsake Card from Spotted Sheep - see picture below.

The site itself is clear and easy to navigate. You can select your cards by artist, person or category so it is easy to find a card suited to your need. The selection of cards is good and wide enough for there to be something for everyone. Below is  the selection that I received.

Spotted Sheep Cards

Here are a couple of the reports back from customers on the Spotted Sheep site.

"What a great website. Your cards are excellent and Ive just made a bulk purchase."

"Absolutely love the cards - a good idea and really nice product."
