Revlon Lip Butters

Wednesday Beauty Buys

My obsession of 2013 has to be the Revlon Lip Butter. I find them so easy to apply - even the brighter colours. They are moisturising, but not sticky and the colour range is great.

My favourite colour is Wild Watermelon- number 63 ( yes I have two in case they discontinue it!) It is a bright, corally, red. Not a pillar box red - much more subtle and wearable for everyday.

They are softening,  smoothing and instantly hydrating. They contain mango butter, shea butter and coconut butter to naturally boost lip moisture. They have a medium coverage with a high shine finish. In a study by Revlon 94% of women saw an improvement in their lip moisture.

Wild Watermelon, Macaroon, Peach Parfait, Sorbet lip Butters

You can usually pick them up on a offer at Boots in the Uk - they are buy one get one half price at the moment.

I believe Target stock them in the US

Have you tried any Revlon Lip Butters ?

Liz Earle Make Up

 Wednesday Beauty Buys

I have  had these two products for a little while now - Signature Eye Colour in Conker and Natural Glow Bronzer.

I have come to the Liz Earle love affair a little late . At first I must admit to not getting the attraction, but I now find I am regularly using the Hot Cloth Face Cleanser , the Shampoo and Conditioner and loving them.

I had been on the hunt for a nicely pigmented dark brown eye shadow for ages and this seemed to fit the bill so decided to give it a go. As my bronzer had also run out this Natural Glow Bronzer got added to the basket as well.

The eye shadow is really pigmented and dark. The colour is beautiful, I mean stunning. My only criticism and this is my own failing, is I struggle a little with the application . You need to blend well and knock off any excess powder as it will drop onto your face if you aren't careful. I know this is easily dealt with, but when you are rushing in the morning a nice compacted powder that leaves no trace is always preferable. However, I would definitely add another colour to my collection for the pigmentation alone. Staying power is great too, although I did have a primer on underneath.

The bronzer is just perfect for me. Light and delicate colour, not orange at all. I have a very pale skin and I like a bronzer that just lifts that a little. This seems perfect and applies consistently and well. Worth the money and will last the distance.

So in summary - both great little products. Certainly a range worth exploring if you haven't already, but I still haven't found anything to compare to Mac products for pigmentation, ease of application and staying power......yet!

Don't forget to also look out this week for the magazines - some great products to tempt us again. Oh dear. Percy Reed with Glamour mag, Elemis with Cosmo and Neals Yard Hand Cream with Marie Claire. Check out this site to keep updated with these deals in the UK.

My Years Favourites

Boxing Day Beauty Buys

I have spent this year trying to find some alternatives to some of the more expensive products I have previously used. I have had success with some, others not so much. I think the conclusion I have reached is that sometimes you can find an alternative that is equally as good for half the price, other times it is worth spending that extra bit for a fabulous product!

So here are my year's finds and favourites...enjoy!

  • Dermalogica - Skin smoothing cream and daily microfoliant. However many times I try something new I always return to these two fantastic products. I have been using these for years and nothing compares! I buy them from Look Fantastic when they have a deal on to get them at the best possible price.

  •  Soap and Glory make up range.  1. "It's all about Prime" eyeshadow primer - a brilliant little primer that intensifies eye shadows and keeps them in place all day. 2. "Trick and Treatment" concealer to cover those black under eye bags! I've needed that this year!! I get these at Boots.

  • Bad Gal Benefit Lash - A superb all round mascara - have repurchased this twice from Boots  and still happy!

  • Orly Top 2 Bottom base and topcoat - This is the best one I have ever tried. It really does help sustain my nail polish for longer. You can get Orly polishes and nail treatments from Cheap Smells.

  • Stila bronzer and highlighter - this is a lovely little product that I rely on to bring some winter colour to my very pale face! Look Fantastic stocks Stila products.

  • Hydraluron moisture booster - if you haven't tried this yet - do!! It goes under your usual moisturiser and really does improve skin texture over time. Now hooked! This can be purchased at Boots .

  • Elvive Extraordinary Oil - best anti frizz, calming, hair product on the market. I love , love , love this product. Easily available at Supermarkets and drugstores.

  • Essie nail polishes - the colours of Essie polishes have me capitivated and the fact I can pick them up from Superdrug is even better! Superdrug Essie Polishes

  • My most recent discovery - KMS makeover spray. A brilliant styling, revamping tool without buildup! Another staple to be added to my cabinet! Cheap Smells has a great price on this product.

  • Bourjois Colour Pots - I have a few of these as alternatives to my Mac eye shadows. They are not the same as Mac by any stretch of the imagination, but with a good primer they are fantastic little shots of colour and at a 3rd of the price a few of these will do thank you very much! Wait for a 3 for 2 offer and get these from Boots.

I could go on ...and on and on ..... but these are probably my top new discoveries or old favourites. I have a list of items I am now itching to try. Thats the problem with reading blogs - you read about so many tempting things!!

My advice with beauty products is if you are unsure always see if they have a sample size you can buy first or if buying from a counter ask for some samples to try. Always look for money off vouchers and codes and check the prices online to see if it is any cheaper to order your products, taking into consideration the cost of posting compared with petrol and parking etc to drive into town to buy them. Don't rule out buying through cashback sites either. Some sites such as Quidco give up to 8% cashback on purchases at Boots and you still get your points on your card too. It's a win, win!

KMS Makeover Spray

Wednesday Beauty Buys

As a follow on to last Wednesdays beauty post I have another Makeover Spray to bring you. This seems to me to be less of a traditional 'dry shampoo' and if any of you have preconceived ideas of products that leave a powdery residue or grey build up of product then think again!

I love this product. It is light and fresh. It gives your hair a real boost when it needs reviving or a wash ! It smells fresh and citrusy, not at all artificial. I have also been using it just as a styling product to add volume too.

I have tried a number of products that fall under the umbrella of 'dry shampoo/makeover sprays" , but I am sold on this one now. It does exactly what I need. It revives my hair, but also gives extra body and boost when needed. It retails at £14.50, but you can buy this product from Cheap Smells for £10.50.

Superdrug's Bargains!

I do like to give a small gift to my children's teachers at the end of term, but it can get expensive if you are not careful. See my post on Teacher's Gifts here. I popped into Superdrug to look for a hot water bottle to replace the one that leaked all over my bed, but ended up with these instead!

P1000030

I thought they had a touch of the Orla Kiely about them and I know when I was a teacher I would have really appreciated a simple gift like this. They are tubes of grapefruit, lemon and cassis hand cream in a pretty box.

The best news was they were only £1.99 each and on a 3 for the price of 2 offer. This was one occasion when I was happy with the multibuy and got 3 teachers gifts for £3.98.

Ideal.

Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel

I received this product in a complimentary pack at a bloggers conference. At first I thought I would save it and use it as a gift , but was too tempted and have dived in myself! It actually is a lovely product for the face. It gives a soothing cleanse and the face feels deeply moisturised and soft afterwards.  It brightens the skin and smooths the complexion. I am not sure I would repurchase it at £28, but certainly their products are worth a look here. I often find a product I love such as this , look at the ingredients and then see if I can find something similar, but cheaper from the high street drugstores - always  worth a try.

What is your go to face product at the moment?

Bargains to be had!

There are always bargains to be had if you keep your eyes open and with a family of five I am not one to pass on a good deal. Tesco obligied this week with their own range of shower gels reduced to £1 a pop , the Baylis and Harding range at around £2 an item and a large bottle of deep cleanse TreSemme for £2 -  ideal.

These shower gels smell great and there is a good selection to choose from . I chose lime, Tea Tree and Mint, and Coconut and Mango.

The Baylis and Harding Range are ones I often pick up and put away as thank you presents for teachers when they are on offer, as grouped together they make a pretty gift. I went for a hand wash , a bath foam and a calming ( good for the school holidays) shower gel.

I get this TreSemme Deep Cleansing shampoo for my husband and boys to use and I also use it myself if I feel my hair needs a deep cleanse from the products that I use. It does the job and at £2 which is less than 1/2 price for such a big bottle I am pretty pleased with this one!

Have you got any great bargain beauty buys lately?
