Getting Older

My little girl was 6 at the end of June .

SIX I tell you!

Where is that time going?

I cannot believe that she is my baby and she is going into year 2 in September.

My eldest son is moving into year 8 at Grammar school and my middle son will be in his final year at Primary School.

Damm, I feel old.

Anyway here is the fantastic cake that I my friend made. She runs a business called Baking Maid.

She is simply beyond belief in what she can do - check out her designs on her page!

  1. Fab cake, my "baby" was 5 on June 30th & is starting school in Sept, I'm a SAHM (hate that term but what other one is much better?), anyhow, I'm already very weepy about it, think I'll have to get a dog. Working outside the home is difficult as hubbie works away a lot. Looking at doing some typing from home. How did you cope when your youngest went to school???? Martina

    1. I've been a SAHM for 9 years and my daughter started school January 2012 - it broke my heart too! It was the reason I started this blog at first! I found it a real change, but in the end decided to embrace it and enjoyed the fact that I now had time to do everything properly instead of rushing through it all. I also gave myself some time. A year on and I have taken on some work - supply teaching and I am loving it. It has taken me a year and a half to get to the point where I feel ok about it all though. My advice would be give yourself time, be kind to yourself and let yourself cry - it's a big change, but there's lots of good to come too! XX

  3. That's a gorgeous cake, I made a Hello Kitty birthday cake for my daughter a couple of years ago.
Time does fly, my youngest will go into the final year of our village primary school in September, I've been standing in that playground for nearly 17 years starting from my eldest at mother and toddler!

    1. A friend of mine is in a similar situation - this term she has been counting - last sports day ever, last play ever, last trip ever etc. It's a big step - good luck - I expect there will be tears ! XXX

  4. You are not getting older, you are getting more mature :) But I agree, kids grow way too fast!

  7. What a lovely cake Claire! Hope your little one had a lovely birthday. I feel old too - very old! Both mine are springing up so fast and my (not-so) little girl will be in Y6 come September - only one more year of school runs. Very scary. It's all flying by too quickly for my liking! xx

  8. That is one amazing cake! Just you wait till your oldest is 24 like mine was in June! I'm so glad I still have a 12 year old, it keeps me feeling young! I'm sure if I just had the girls I would be craving grand children by now! Thank you so much for your email Claire xxx

  10. That's a stunning cake. My 'baby' is an only child so there were definitely tears shed when she graduated from Primary School a few weeks ago. It's scary how fast time flies.
